Our last visit to the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens was two weeks ago. During that visit, we didn’t see any Baltimore Orioles. We were wondering if we would find any today. We unfortunately did not. But we did find an Eastern Kingbird nest with two babies! And, saw them get fed by their parents. We also saw many swallows, possibly the most we’ve ever seen here. And of course, plenty of flowers!

We headed out again to the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens to see what has changed since last weekend and hoping to see some Baltimore Orioles again. We did see some changes with the flowers and found plenty of birds but failed to find any orioles at all.

Last weekend, we visited the Meadowlark Botanical Gardens in Northern Virginia. Today, we returned! We saw some flowers that were either new or we just didn’t notice last time. And we finally saw some bright orange male Baltimore Orioles! And plenty of other birds!

We headed over to Meadowlark Botanical Gardens today and arrived just after they opened at 10am. We were there to see what new flowers have bloomed since our last visit and to hopefully see some Baltimore Orioles, as well as any other interesting birds we may encounter.

Its been a little more than two weeks since the Washington DC cherry blossoms hit peak bloom. Locally, it was about the same. Most trees locally have lost the majority of their flowers, though a few are still hanging on.
