I used my shiny new Droid for navigation and traffic avoidance duties this Thanksgiving weekend. One problem I had was that I don’t have any sort of vehicle mount for it. So for part of the drive where I was using the navigation, I had to just turn the radio down and listen to the talking voice, which isn’t so bad but its nice to visually see the route and to be able to tell if I really am where the Droid thinks I am.
Motorola has a suction mount for the Droid, but the problem with suction cup type mounts is that the windshield is further forward in newer cars. Thanks to Google, I found this blog post that basically says that I can use the Motorola suction cup mount parts with the Garmin friction mount. Which is nice since I have a Garmin friction mount… So I’ll be giving this a try! Yay for the Google and the intertubes!
